noel006- The VaGiants- 'Waiting for the night to come' 12" LP
Track Listing:
Side One: Night To Come, Space Out, Detroit, Shiner, e.b.t.
Side Two: Easy mover, Testing 1-2-3, Turn it around, Nights End (Off The Rails)
Not since The Stooges' "Raw Power", AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds", or
The Supersuckers' "The Smoke Of Hell" has rock'n'roll sounded so thunderously primitive, electrically frenetic, and vibrantly untamed. Damn, The Vagiants have done set my ears aflame!
- Roger Moser, Jr. Freelance music writer, Austin TX
While the writer here is referring to their first album, Hotbox, believe me that this latest offering from the VaGiants will burn the rest of his head to a crisp.
These nine new tracks from this now defunct Winnipeg quartet were written and recorded shortly after their second jaunt Stateside. The songs betray the bands cleaner production on this record. Born out of backlane dumpsters and marinated in garbage juice & bourbon, the VaGiants deliver a symphony of super soul rock-n-roll that will not soon be put down. Hip shakin ravers like "Detroit" and the title track give way to all out crushing punk anthems like"e.b.t.", a supreme rant that challenges the listener to "walk a mile in my moccassins, honey".
With the sudden demise of the VaGiants there will only be a piece of vinyl available to remember them by. Mastered in NYC by Don Grossinger (MC5, Sonic Youth, Bad Brains), this 12" LP includes a georgeous full colour photo collage of over 200 photos designed by the bands (former) bass player Brendon Ehinger (designed for D-Rangers, the New Meanies, Rudimental). The first single, "Turn It Around" will have an accompanying video ready for late October release.
